Mr. Ryan Cummins was born and raised in Brenham, Texas on a small family farm. He is the son of Leon and Kaaren Cummins of Bryan, Texas. No stranger to livestock shows, he has judged many species of livestock shows throughout the state of Texas and all over the United States through the Texas Junior Livestock Association and many different state’s breed association shows.

Mr. Cummins attended Clarendon Junior College receiving an Associates Degree in Science and was on the outstanding and competitive livestock and meats judging teams. Two short years later Mr. Cummins graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. While at OSU, he was a member of the prestigious and award winning Livestock Judging Team that was extremely competitive during the years of 2002-2003. Ryan has also attended Sam Houston State University where he furthered his educational goals by earning a Masters Degree in Agriculture in the summer of 2008 with the addition of a Texas Teaching Certificate in Agricultural Education. Mr. Cummins future plans are to attend Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas to achieve a PhD in Agricultural Education and become a livestock judging team coach at a university.

Ryan grew up showing cattle, sheep, goats and swine at the age of eight years old and knows the industry from many aspects. He formerly sold beef semen and cattle breeding supplies for Semex USA in both Texas and Louisiana sales areas. To date, Mr. Cummins has judged a variety of market and breeding cattle, sheep, goat and swine shows in Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, California, New Mexico, Louisiana and Southern Arkansas. Mr. Cummins believes that showmanship is crucial to being successful in the show ring and that it’s a continual learning process. He also enjoys seeing the exhibitor’s become successful through hard work and determination while raising their livestock projects.

Currently residing in Katy, Texas with his young family and 1 yr old daughter; Ryan enjoys spending his free time with Raynie (his daughter), judging livestock shows and helping young people become successful in many forms of Agricultural endeavors. He currently is a High School Agriculture Science Teacher in downtown Houston, Texas. Ryan has grown up around and has shown livestock all his life in Texas and finds it is indeed a pleasure to be invited to judge this year at the Belt Buckle Bonanza, a personal goal he’s now achieved on his list of many.
